We are delighted to announce that the winner of this years Cordis Showcase prize is Iva Knight for her tapestry ‘Black’.
“Black” is a flat woven work in linen, cotton, silk and man-made fibres. The design is based on paper collage inspired by abstract artist Sonia Delaunay’s wonderful images. The central floral image reflects my love of all that grows in my garden. Red, black and white are my favourite weaving colours and woven lettering has intrigued me ever since I started to learn the wonderful, multi-layered and (very) addictive art and craft of weaving.
This exhibition was set up to compliment the main Cordis Prize, and to celebrate and reward the work of the wider community of amateur and emerging tapestry weavers in Britain. The Showcase is hosted once again in the idylic surroundings of the Scottish Cafe and Restaurant, overlooking Princes Street Gardens in the National Galleries of Scotland’s Weston Link.
Many of these wonderful works are for sale, please contact our administrator; firstname.lastname@example.org for more information or to purchase.
